Unique business identifiers
According to the notice issued by the Companies Registry on 27 October 2023, the Companies Registry will implement the business registration number assigned by the Business Registration Office of the Inland Revenue Department as the unique business identification number for companies and entities in two phases. Phase 1 has been implemented in the LPF since 1 November 2021. The second phase will be implemented on December 27, 2023 and covers limited companies and other types of entities.
For companies and entities, the key features of the second phase of the SIIN, effective from 27 December 2023, include:
- The business registration number will be used as the number on the “Certificate of Registration” or “Certificate of Change of Name” of companies and entities.
- In the forms and documents submitted to the Companies Registry, the Business Registration Number is required instead of the existing Company Registration Number.
- The Business Registration Number (BRN) will be used as a key number for searching and identifying a company or entity in the Companies Registry’s services.
