- Eligibility:
– Category A: Annual income of HK$2.5 million or above in the 1 year preceding the date of application
– Category B: A bachelor’s degree from an eligible university with at least 3 years of working experience
– Category C: Bachelor’s degree from an eligible university with less than 3 years of work experience (subject to annual quota)
- Application Criteria:
– Approval is not permitted without security reasons and there is no serious criminal record
– Category C must have an annual quota available for allocation
- Length of stay:
– Applicants who are admitted to Hong Kong will be granted an initial stay of 24 months without other restrictions
– Each person can only apply for this “Initial Stay Arrangement” once
- Chinese Citizen Application:
– Must have permanent resident status overseas or have resided overseas for at least 1 year prior to application
Approval time
It usually takes 4 weeks to process all the required documents upon receipt. If all the required documents and information are not received, the ImmD will not be able to commence processing the application.
All applications are processed and vetted by the Immigration Department. The approval of the application is entirely at the discretion of the Director of Immigration in accordance with the policy of the HKSAR Government at that time. Even if all the eligibility criteria have been met, the Director of Immigration reserves the right to reject an individual application at his or her sole discretion.
